Scarecrow Festival

Today was cold and overcast, but there was so much to do!

Kernel Karen was giving out balloons while frightening tales about Easton were told.

We had musicians Mike Beck & Steve Brodsky singing throughout the day.

Nick & Shane were giving carriage rides to visitors all day.

We also had professional hooper Christine Warner & assistant giving lessons.

We had 15 entries in our scarecrow contest. Which one do you think was the funniest & scariest?

Next Week

Well we're at the end of special events for the Easton Farmers Market. We are still open until Thanksgiving. So feel free to stop by and start your Holiday Shopping. There's all kinds of vendors at the market and you can help promote local made items.

See you next week,

Lehigh Valley Zoo Photo Shoot

Yes we were closed on 10-18-08, but we had a very good reason. We had a behind the scenes photo shoot at the Lehigh Valley Zoo. The day began very cold and early. It was only 37 degrees at 7am when we had to leave. Bundled up and carrying all of our equipment, we began our shoot at 8am; 1.5hrs before the zoo opened. We were able to greet the ostrich and zebra, go behind the wolf exhibit, and meet the kangaroos. The day was full of amazing photo opportunities. Take a look!

The fog was still hovering over the pond.

Good morning Mr. Zebra!

The senior otter has some trouble waking up.

The birds of prey begin to ruffle their feathers as guests start to walk by.

The llama cracks a smile as he poses for the camera.

Next Weekend:

Saturday 11-1-08 is Easton's Scarecrow Festival. Stop by for the scarecrow making contest from 9am-2pm, live music, pumpkin painting at 9am, pie contest at 12pm, and psychic readings. Kids can enjoy face paining, harvest activities, and spooky stories from 11am-1pm. As always you can also pick up fruits & vegetables, crafts, and baked goods from the vendors.

We will be bringing an assortment of pictures & merchandise from our zoo photo shoot and don't forget to stop by to enter our monthly drawing; it's FREE!

See you there,

Shannon

Easton Apple Fest

This weekend we enjoyed the Easton Apple Fest. We had apples of all kinds everywhere. There was apple pie, apple fritters, apple cider, & apple preserves.

We had New Jersey folk singer Heather Mulvey playing Celtic & American folk songs.

We even had fresh apple fritters being made by one of our local chefs!

There was a pie eating contest, best apple dessert contest, apple art for the kids, & feed the hungry horse game.

Next Week

Unfortunately, you won't see us at the farmers market next week. We'll be attending a photo shoot at one of zoos and getting a backstage pass to a number of the different animals. Check us out October 25th for the Scarecrow Festival and see the amazing zoo shots we were able to get.

See you in 2 weeks,

Shannon

Easton Garlic Festival

Today started out horrible. It was 43, rainy, and one of my large prints ended up in a dirty puddle. Thankfully by noon, things got a lot better. It stopped raining, the sun came out, and it started to get warmer.

There was plenty of things to do at the garlic fest this year. There was music, tons of food, and lots of garlic competitions. You could watch garlic cookoffs, vote on the best garlic grown in the area, and submit to the garlic recipe contest. We even had local garlic celebrities walking around like Stinky and the Morning Call Mascot.

As usual, you could find local produce & flowers, handmade crafts, and specials. As an added bonus, local celebrity & boxer Larry Holmes stopped by and talked to everyone.

Next week we're celebrating the apple fest. Make sure to stop by for all your apple needs.

See you next week,

Shannon :)

Also, we will be donating our "Striped Beauty" print to the Autism Society of Deleware for their Autumn Auction for Autism. This was such a great honor to be accepted in their silent auction. With so many children being diagnosed with autism, it's a huge cause to help out.

Lafeyette & X-treme Sports Day

Today was a welcome back to all the Lafeyette Staff & Students. The circle was full of people enjoying the bakeries and craft vendors. There was cotton candy, hot dogs, music, and singing. Everyone joined in the hot pepper eating contest, the watermelon shotput, and the cake walk. Balloons filled the air and even the Crayola crayon was seen dancing around.

We premiered our magnets and aroma cards. Unfortunately, I was unable to finish up the glass paper weights, bookmarks, and ACEO cards. Hopefully I'll be able to bring them next week. Credit cards are now accepted at all of our events. Don't have cash with you, just use any of the four major credit cards.

We also had a number of four-legged customers this week. Take a look.

See you next weekend,
Shannon

Farmers Market Grand Opening

We had our grand opening this weekend at the Easton Farmers Market. It was a cool overcast day, but atleast it didn't rain. We had a small setup at booth 18 in between the Backyard Growers & Teels Hill Soapworks. You could find a selection of 5x7 prints in 8x10 mats, notecards, greeting cards, and postcards. There were larger framed prints on display, our portfolio was available for special orders, and free monthly drawing entries were being taken. The highlight of the weekend had to be my husband's zebra picture. All the kids recognized it as the zebra from the zoo.

Encase you weren't able to make it, there were fantasha dancers, the 2008 Agri Art competition, and animals. That's right! The greyhound rescue and Smith Krekk Alpacas were there with their dogs and alpacas. Children and adults of all ages were using fruits and vegetables to make animals art. It was a lot of fun.

NEXT WEEK

September 20th is the 2nd annual Lafayette Day from 10am-3pm. Students & staff from Lafayette College will be visiting the circle and most vendors will be offering special discounts to them. There will also be X-treme Sports Day events held in the circle. Don't forget to stop by the Riverside Festival of the Arts only 2 blocks away!

In honor of Lafayette Day, we'll be offering our 5x7 prints in 8x10 mats for only $15 each to anyone with a Lafayette armband. We're also premiering our magnets and glass paperweights. Stop by and see us if you're in the area.
